LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Police are responding to a report of a bank robbery at a Chase Bank in Lafayette.
Officers are on the scene at the Chase Bank on Teal Road in Lafayette and are searching for a white male who, they say, robbed the bank just before 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Police describe him as a 40- to 50-year-old man between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing aviator glasses, a pink bandana, a grey hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants.
Police also say he was either missing a bottom tooth or has a large gap on his bottom row of teeth.
Police say he was armed with a handgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He fled on foot, and as of 2:30 p.m. Friday, with assistance from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's K-9 Unit, Lafayette Police were searching avidly for the suspect.
Our reporter on the scene spoke with an officer guarding the door of the bank. That officer confirmed the robbery to NewsChannel 18.
We have also received multiple reports of surrounding schools such as Jeff High School being on lockdown as officers search for the suspect.
NewsChannel 18 will bring you further details as soon as possible.
