LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette now offers a medical adult daycare. Active Day, in Cascada Business Park, provides adult medical daycare services for the
elderly, and others with developmental disabilities.
At the center, clients eat breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. They can participate in planned activities, and then everyone goes home for the night.
"They enjoy the socialization and the activities and just the getting together with other people. Our programs are designed specifically for individual clients," Kris Baldock, Active Day President/CEO.
Baldock said any healthcare needs are met with an on-site nurse. He said the centers are becoming a popular alternative to nursing homes.
"It enables them to better utilize their Medicaid dollars in a preferred setting at a lower cost than nursing homes. That's why we've been growing rapidly in the last several years; we're now in 7 states,
with our 59 sites," he said.
"We're excited about the opportunity to provide an alternative to individuals, that enables them to remain in their home," added Melanie Cox, Active Day Chief Operating Officer.
Cox said transportation can also be provided to and from the center. The cost for daily daycare services is about $70, which can be covered by Medicaid.
