WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Local news is available 24 hours a day here at WLFI.com, and breaking news is available through Facebook , Twitter , and a new iPhone application as well.

Internet Content Producer Erin Coduti said fans of WLFI on Facebook will receive periodic updates from WLFI on their news feeds. These updates will include breaking news like road closures and dangerous weather but will also include news about interesting community events.

Also, fans of WLFI can interact with each other and station staff. They can comment on posts, suggest story ideas and recommend people to be interviewed.

Twitter users can follow WLFI and get news updates via tweets. They can even choose to have our tweets sent directly to their cell phone, which Coduti said could prove a benefit with breaking news updates.

"So there's absolutely no delay between when we post that information and when our viewers can know that information," she said.

News Channel 18 also announced a new iPhone application earlier this week which can be downloaded at no charge from the i-Tunes store.

"It's available through the itunes store but there's no charge for it," said Coduti. "It's completely free to download, and it will allow you to view our weather updates, our latest news stories, and our latest videos on your iphone. It's a very pretty interface, it's very easy to use, easy to navigate, and just one more way to let people access news wherever they need it."

Facebook, Twitter, and now the iPhone are all ways News Channel 18 is making news available in ways that may better fit your schedule. Check out our Participate page find links to these pages to see even more ways to interact with WLFI.
