WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -
WLFI's Station Manager Tom Combs has released the
following statement:
"I am pleased to announce that Chad
Evans will be joining WLFI as chief meteorologist replacing Mike
Prangley. We are proud to welcome someone from part of the LIN
Television family.
"Chad has worked in Evansville at
WEHT and most recently spent over 4 years at WTHI in Terre Haute.
His first day will be May 11 and we look forward to welcoming him
as part of the WLFI staff. He is a native of Odon, Indiana and an
ISU grad.
"We’re obviously sorry to see
Mike Prangley depart but are very excited about the opportunity
ahead of him and his family."
Mike Prangley had this to say about his
replacement:
"Our WLFI weather department has a
proud tradition dating back many decades. This includes not only
the best local weather coverage available but many former WLFI'ers
that have gone on to do great things whether it be in St.Louis,
Dallas, Indianapolis, Tampa, or elsewhere. I was honored to carry
on this tradition and wanted to make sure before I left that our
viewers who mean the world to me would be in good hands.
"Out of all the candidates
interviewed for this job Chad certainly stood out with not only his
likeable personality, but with his great knowlege of weather. Most
of all Chad is somebody you can rely on during severe weather. This
makes passing the torch to Chad quite easy and we both joked at how
much we are alike. I just call him my half-brother. The future is
bright at WLFI and I am sure Chad will be somebody you can welcome
with open arms and I appreciate you giving him your full
support."
Chad Evans himself is very excited to join the
station.
"I love and grew up around
basketball, farming and weather, so Lafayette is a perfect fit.
Indiana is home, and it always will be home.
"I spent a lot of time in West
Lafayette at Purdue being involved in FFA and 4-H contests, so it
is no stranger to me. My main three loves are the outdoors,
agriculture and weather/climate and Lafayette embraces all of these
passions of mine. I live and breathe weather and it is just not a
job... It is a lifestyle, my career.
"I can't wait to meet so many new
people and hear from all of our viewers. Weather in the Corn Belt
is always changing and I promise to always keep you abreast of
those changes with up-to-the-minute forecasts. I want to continue
to make WLFI the weather authority in central and northern
Indiana!"
Chad Evans maintains a weather blog for WTHI and will
continue to do the same here.
