WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A Flag Day ceremony marked the beginning of Veterans' Home Recognition Week.
The ceremony included songs, a history of the American flag, and a gun salute by American Legion Post 4-92.
Indiana Veterans' Home Superintendent Antonio Stewart gave the keynote address.
He said the American flag has many meanings.
"It means the freedom to speak, to act, to write, and to think. Today the color represents a country filled with racial, religious, and political diversity, and it remain as it always will a statement of what this great nation stands for...life, liberty, and justice," said Stewart.
Veterans' Home Week celebrations:
The Indiana Veterans’ Home (3851 N River Road, West Lafayette) will celebrate Veterans’ Home Week during the week of June 14th though the 20th. There will be activities each day for residents, staff and the public. For more information call (765) 463-1502.
