WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Some of the most historical structures in Tippecanoe County are also among the most threatened. Wabash Valley Trust released its list of the most Endangered Structures. The annual list includes buildings, homes, or other historical landmarks in danger of being torn down or neglected. The list includes four structures that have been saved
Board Member Susan Curtis says the goal is to raise awareness about the historic buildings around Lafayette.

"If something isn't done to rehabilitate and bring them back into use, they will disappear and they are an important part of our history," Curtis said. One of the most unique structures on the list the Cairo Skywatch Tower. It was built during the Korean War to protect the country against aerial attacks. The structure was once cared for by the O'Conner family, who participated in the Skywatch program. The tower has now fell into disrepair.

The most endangered list includes:

1) Cairo Skywatch Tower
2) Lawrie Library
3) Pythian Home
4) 115 S. 9th Street, Lafayette
5) Grandview Cemetery Building, Indiana Veterans Home
6) 421 Asher and Twin, Lafayette
7) The Reifer House, 12 North Eighth Street, Lafayette
8) Ayers Mansion 907 State Street, Lafayette
