BROOKSTON, Ind. - A teenager is dead after a serious crash on State Road 18 in White County.

Indiana State Police Sergeant, Kim Riley says the driver of the car, 16-year-old Cale Paschen of Brookston, failed to yield at the stop sign at Springboro Road. A gravel truck driven by John Leill of Lafayette was heading east on S.R. 18 slammed into the driver's side of Paschen's car.

The accident happened just after 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at State Road 18 and Springboro Road.

Monticello Fire Leiutenant Mike Hill said the Paschen was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters.

Hill said Paschen was then taken to Saint Elizabeth Central by ambulance, and the White County Sheriff's Department said that he died at the hospital.

Leill, the truck driver, was not injured.

State Road 18 was closed for about 4 hours after the crash.  The crash is still under investigation.
