WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The West Lafayette Community School Corporation is developing a report card for the district. The school board discussed how the measurement tool could determine if the district is reaching its goals.  Categories on the report card could include I-STEP scores, how parents are being engaged, enrollment figures and graduation rates.

Superintendent Rocky Killion said the report card would measure the district against its self and give parents and the community an idea of how well the system is performing. "Right now, what's built into it is how well we're doing over a long period of time. It's a longitudinal study," he explained.

The report card is expected to come out in Spring of 2009.  The district based the measurement system on one Fort Wayne Community Schools recently developed.

West Lafayette schools also hope to expand Happy Hallow Elementary School.  Plans include enlarging the cafeteria, as well as adding on a large group instruction room, bathrooms and possibly four classrooms.
The project needs approval from a state taxing board before moving forward.  If it does, construction would begin next summer.

The former Burtsfield Elementary School will be torn down around December 15.
