OTTERBEIN, Ind. (WLFI) - A Benton County Highway employee walks away after his tractor was hit by a train.
Don Ringle was out on a tractor grading gravel roads Monday
afternoon around 1:00 p.m. He didn't see an approaching train.
The train hit his tractor when he crossed tracks on US 52 and
1050 East near Otterbein.
Benton County Sheriff Butch Pritchett says Ringle had a few cuts and a sore neck.
"He got out of the vehicle himself, the tractor. The took him to the hospital for observation which is county policy. Anybody involved in an accident goes in for observation," said Pritchett.
Ringle was taken to St. Elizabeth Central in Lafayette.
US 52 was closed for about a half an hour while the debris was cleaned up.
