WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - As Tuesday night's rains turn into Wednesday's runoff, residents
along the Tippecanoe River in White County continue to keep a close
eye on water levels.
"It's still going up it looks like," said Buffalo resident Chad
DuBois as he looked at his water engulfed home.
"I just moved in last week," DuBois said.
"I'm just now seeing it. I came home last night and it was up
to the corner of the house, and we took off. I didn't want
to take a chance, but the water was too deep to go back and get our
couch or anything," he said.
DuBois is going through what Monticello homeowner David Hines
already experienced last January. And as the still-rising water
from Buffalo flowed downstream through the Norway Dam to his
Bluewater home, Hines is worried he may have to live that same
nightmare again.
"It just barely got in the house last year, and it got about 3
foot deep in the garage," Hines said.
Hines and DuBois also share the same feeling of the days ahead,
one of uncertainty.
"I don't know. You got me. I don't what to do, find a hotel room
I guess," DuBois said.
"Just hope it doesn't go any higher," Hines said.
