LINDEN, Ind. (WLFI) - In two weeks, when Barack Obama is sworn-in as the 44th President of the United States, a Linden family will be there for the historic moment.
Mark Eutsler and his wife, Therese, have attended three out of the last four presidential inaugurations. On January 20th, the Eutslers will stand with their children, Andrew and Abigail, and an estimated four million as Barack Obama takes the oath of office.
"The inaugural makes you proud to be an American. I think it's going to be electric. This is just going to be so exciting. The whole message and mantra of change is in the air and everyone is excited about that. Great expectations with a dose of realism thrown in," Mark said.
The Eutslers say this inauguration will mean more than any year prior. They say having worked locally for the Obama campaign--canvassing door-to-door for Democratic candidate--as well as having the kids along, will make this trip even more incredible.
"I feel it's good for the kids also to come along. Because, you'll study about it in school, it's kind of a bonus to attend and say, I've been there. They can say to their children, 'Yes, I was there when we elected the first African American president'. And, maybe when we elect the first female president they can go and say they've been to that too." Therese said.
The kids will be writing about the trip in their journals. The Eutslers have a full itinerary, including visits with elected officials and tours of the city. They will also be attending the Indiana Society of Washington DC Inaugural Ball.
