LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Police Trooper, Ryan Winters, was on patrol early Saturday morning. He was helping a disabled semi in a parking lot at Knight's Inn off of State Road 26, when he noticed flames shooting from the front window of the Krispy Kreme Donut Shop. As the flames grew, Winters took matters into his own hands. He broke out the front glass door to check for anyone inside. Winters grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the flames. The fire was concentrated in the kitchen area. No one was inside at the time of the fire. Lafayette Fire Department has taken over the investigation. The Krispy Kreme Donut shop is open for business.
