Even though the official holiday isn't until tomorrow, many people started celebrating the 4th of July early.  Hundreds of people spent the day at local pools and parks.  Tropicanoe Cove was packed with people celebrating with family and friends.  Many say a dip in the pool is the perfect way to start the holiday off right.

"Hanging out with friends, having the time of my life, and being free and all that stuff," said Abby Hummel.

"Playing in the water, going out in the sand, having fun," said Megan Stovall.

"I like going down the lazy river and going down the two slides," said Charlie Terhune.

But, even with all the fun, many people are reflecting on what July 4th means to them.

"It's a time to reflect on the founding of our country and what it means to be an American," said Chad Edwards.

"The people over there fighting for us, for our freedom," said Nicole Stovall:.

"Freedom, liberty, indpendence, thankful to live in the USA, That's right the greatest country in the world," said Matt Galvin.

Even though, everyone celebrates the holiday in different ways.  Almost everyone we spoke with all agree on what they like the best about July 4th.

"The Fireworks, I love the fireworks," Nicole Stovall.

"We have a lot of firecrackers and stuff," said Henry Terhune.

"I like seeing the fireworks," said Megan Stovall.

"The fireworks probably.  I like the big ones that explode," said Abby Hummel

Tropicanoe Cove is open on July 4th from 10:00a.m. to 7p.m.
