LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The City of Lafayette approves the purchase of the Bridgeway Apartment Complex. The Lafayette Redevelopment Commission will put aside 2 million dollars to buy the complex. The city cannot pay more than the average of the two appraisals, which is $1.7 million. Redevelopment Director Dennis Carson said the city is negotiating with the owner for the actual purchase of the property. Carson wants to have negotiations completed by the end of the year.

The Commission also approved a $40,000 design contract for the Main Street Streetscape Design. Carson said this project will also look for a greener way to deal with the storm water reduction and combined sewer overloads downtown.

"This particular area that we are looking at on Main Street 4th through 11th Street is really where our retail is clustered. So, we want to take our current design and probably make some more changes that are pedestrian and more retail friendly," Carson said.

The Commission also approved a new five-year contract with Denison Parking.
