The County Health Department has been asked to pilot a program that could be used statewide for the distribution of an H1-N1 flu vaccine. The State Department of Health asked the department to try out its Mass Immunization Computer Program Model. Supervisor Donella Carter said nurses will give 1,000 first responders and healthcare workers in the area two vaccines for Whooping Cough and Meningitis. Carter said the nurses will put that information into the state's Chirp System.
"It's just to see how fast we can do it. How well their program will work if the need arrives that the vaccine comes out in the fall and we need to give to the Tier levels from the CDC," Carter said.
