DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) - The rain held off just in time for the 16th annual Fourth of July parade in Delphi.  Despite the forecast, hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown delphi to celebrate the July 4th holiday.

"It's a fun holiday to remember the beginning of our country and how we started," said Geoff Knowles.

"Everybody gets together, the parades, the unity of the people in the community," said Linda Penn.

"The community means a lot on the 4th of July, as represented by every little town in Indiana probably has a parade," said Kent Shisler.

Something Jay Deubel, visiting from Arizona, says he wouldn't find back home.

"Where we live we just don't have this. We are from the midwest originally, so it's really nice to be back and see this again.  This would be the best part of my Fourth of July," said Jay Deubel:.

Delphi resident Dick Rowe says the holiday for him is about remembering.

"Rememberence of my brother who was killed in the vietnam war, remembering all the battles, all the suffering we've had to go through to make this country as great as it is," said Rowe.

The parade was complete with police cars, firetrucks, old-fashioned cars, and even tractors.
