Police said a vehicle collided with a horse and buggy around 11:45 a.m., Monday, April 27th near Camden in Carroll County. The crash took place on State Road 75 between County Roads 200 N. and 300 N.

Both the driver of the buggy and the horse were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Carroll County Coroner J.D. Cree, the driver of the buggy was Steven L. Royer, 64, of rural Camden. Royer was a member of the Old Old German Baptist Brethren.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

According to John Chapman of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department the driver was John T. Justice, 87, of rural Logansport.

Chapman said, "Two witnesses said the driver acted as if he did not see the horse and buggy."

Chapman also said that Justice told him that he did not see the buggy until the last minute.

An accident report will be forwarded to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department. It will be up to Prosecutor Tricia Thompson to decide if any criminal charges should be filed.

A routine blood test was performed at the scene. The results are not back yet, but police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
