Branchville - Three men escaped from the Branchville Correctional Facility in southern Indiana on Friday, March 20. 49 year old Christopher Marshall, 59 year old Jerry Sargent, and 32 year old Bobby Cockerell, were last accounted for around 9:15 a.m. Friday.
Marshall is from Monon, Indiana. He was serving a 50 year sentence for Dealing Cocaine. His earliest possible reelease date is January 5, 2021. Sargent is a native of Dryer Ridge, Kentucky. He was serving a 50 year sentence for Robbery and Criminal Confinement. His earliest possible release date is January 7, 2023. Cockerell is from Jeffersonville, Indiana. He is serving a 20 year sentence for Burglary. His earliest possible release date is March 29, 2016.
According to the Indiana Department of Corrections, Marshall and Sargent were assigned to the prison's welding shop. They are believed to have been involved in an assault on a maintenance worker before escaping. The maintenance worker was injured and airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, for treatment.
The DOC said the method of the escape is still underinvestigation.
All three men should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the escaped prisoners is asked to call 911.
Marshall is a white male, about five feet eight inches tall, 188 pounds, with green eyes, and brown hair. Sargent is a white male, approximately six feet five inches tall, weighing 210 pounds with lue eyes and red hair. Cockerell is a white male, approximately six feet two inches tall, weighing 220 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
