BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) - Hundreds of musicians descended on the Tippecanoe Battlefield to fiddle around.
The Fiddlers' Gathering is a 3-day traditional music festival featuring old-time, bluegrass, and folk musicians.
Throughout the weekend, players are able to attend workshops taught by master musicians.
Banjo player Howard Clark has been attending the gathering since its inception.
He said the best way to learn is by spending time around the experts.
"If you'd happen across the blues and say, "Wow, that's cool", but you haven't the vaguest idea how to play it, it's a really good thing to go talk to blues players and go to festivals and listen to it. Before long, you're a blues player," Clark said.
Fiddler Gary Hockett used one of the workshops to sharpen his skills.
"We were over at the master's tent earlier today and learned a few little moves that I'm going to go home and practice like crazy on for probably about a year, but eventually I'll get it," Hockett said.
