LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Motorists could soon encounter less traffic on US 52 south of Lafayette. The Area Plan Commission added building a bridge over the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to its list of planned projects. The APC said at a meeting it hopes to improve the flow of traffic through the area.
"It's been a problem for traffic tie ups. Every time traffic is stopped and trains come across, there is always the danger of train-vehicle crashes. It's a major corridor for freight haulers and any delays to freight is costly, said Sallie Fahey, the Area Plan Commission Executive Director.
Construction on the bridge is expected to start in the
spring.
