LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - This Father's Day one father goes the extra mile for his son. In the last 3 years 48-year-old Glenn Fenster has traveled 18,000 miles by bicycle for his son Nyle.
15-year-old Nyle was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was a toddler. His father rides his bike to raise awareness about the illness one mile at a time. Today, Fenster traveled from Chicago to Lafayette.
News Channel 18 caught up with him on US 52 in Tippecanoe County.
"I'm riding to show my son that no matter what disability the mind or body, anything can be accomplished. My son has epilepsy. He's been suffering seizures since the age of 2. Now at 15 this trip pales in comparison to the courage my son and others with epilepsy show every day of their lives. And of course this being a special day for me, Father's Day. It's been quite the difficult day. But earlier I heard the greatest three words I'd hoped for all day, Happy Father's Day," said Fenster.
Fenster started the trip out of Miami, Florida on April 27th.
He has around 3,500 miles left in this particular trip.
From Lafayette he will travel to Bloomington, Indiana on Monday.
