KOKOMO, Ind. (WLFI) - - Chrysler facilities in Northern Kokomo will temporarily be laying off some of its workforce in the next few days.
Roger Feldhaus of the Tecumseh Area Partnership said a couple thousand people could be out of a job for two to three weeks. The transmission and casting companies for Chrysler in Howard County employ about five to six thousand people.
While the layoff is short term, many workers are concerned about the long term prospects of their jobs.
"My concern is all the rumblings and churning going on in the auto industry particularly with the big three and what is going to happen in the near future. I'm sure that's of some concern to the long time Chrysler employees and their families," said Feldhaus.
It is possible workers could be back at their jobs around Thanksgiving.
