Camden, IN - A Carroll County restaurant opened its doors to customers today
in hopes of raising enough money to help feed families in need for
Christmas. The parking lot was full and so were the stomachs
inside the Little Bit Country Cafe in Camden.
Owners Frank and Patricia Delk offered free Thanksgiving meals
to customers, and were hoping to raise a little money for the Flora
Food Bank with a donation jar that began to overflow.
"We don't have our kids, they live out of state, so we decided
to do something for our community," said Patricia.
"It's a lot of fun and it can help a lot of people. I knew we
weren't going to be able to do a whole lot for Thanksgiving but our
main goal was to supply the food for Christmas," said Frank.
The cozy cafe was full from the start, as families and
frequenters of the Little Bit Country gathered for their choice of
turkey, chicken noodle, and ham dinners.
"We got most of the family together, we don't have to cook, and
support the community and the food bank," said Bob McCain. McCain
was happy to spend the day with his family, and his grandchildren
were happy to see there was plenty of pumpkin pie.
Jerry Britton is a loyal customer who brought his family to give
thanks for the Delks' fundraiser. "We eat here quite a bit anyway
so we came out to support Frank and his project," said
Britton. Britton's grandchildren were more than happy to
gobble up their share of the dinner.
With many happy customers finishing off their meals, the next
question is who to thank for all the cooking.
After cooking up nine turkeys, four hams, pounds of potatoes,
and all the trimmings, the Little Bit Country Cafe raised $764.76
for the Flora Food Bank.
