2 found near train tracks; 1 now dead

Found when calls reported vehicle blocking tracks

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Sergeant Kenner said Lafayette Police responded to a call of a vehicle blocking railroad tracks at around 8:00 a.m.

Police said the vehicle was found in a remote area, on the Northfolk Southern railroad tracks west of Poland Hill Road in Lafayette. They found two people in or near the vehicle, 55-year-old Dale Tabor of Lafayette and 42-year-old Glenn Cobleigh of Benton County.

Police said that both individuals appeared to be extremely intoxicated by undetermined means.

The Lafayette Fire Department and Tippecanoe County Ambulance Sercice responders were summoned to the scene and assisted in removing Tabor and Cobleigh. Tabor was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital and Cobleigh was taken to Home Hospital.

Tabor's current condition is unknown, but Cobleigh was pronounced dead of unknown causes at Home Hospital.

The death investigation on Cobleigh is being handled by the Tippecanoe County Coroner Office and an autopsy is being scheduled.
