BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) - Things have quieted down at the vote center in Battle Ground.
Supervisor Diane Martin said people were lined up as early as 5:30 a.m. outside Tippecanoe Township fire station. Martin said election workers did not have internet service for the first hour of voting.
"Through phone lines and communicating with the election office we had 116 people vote in the first hour," said Martin.
The wait for some voters was more than a hour.
Martin said the vote center also had technical problems with three machines that had to be replaced. By 1:00 p.m., 750 people had voted in Battle Ground, and there was no waiting.
Martin said this election is much different than the May primary. "For the primary, we started out with only three machines," said Martin. "When we got busy, they added three more. For this election we have nine machines. It [has] made a big difference."
