Wrestling match held in honor of fallen hero

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A local high school honored a former student and fallen hero Saturday by hosting a wrestling meet.

The Kyle Osborn Invitational was held at McCutcheon High School Saturday night. Army Sgt. Kyle Osborn was killed in September while serving a tour in Afghanistan.

T-shirts with Osborn's picture designed on the front were sold to help raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project.

One of Osborn's high school teammates helped organize the event, and said it means a lot to see the community come together.

"It means a lot to me," said McCutcheon Wrestling Assistant Coach Travis Dale. "Wrestling was a big part of our lives and brought us very close together. It was obviously a hard loss."

"Wrestlers in general are pretty much just a family," said McCutcheon Wrestling Head Coach Thomas Skinner. "I thought this would be a good way to honor both a wrestler and a service man of our country."

A total of five high schools, all from Lafayette, participated in the event.
