BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) - It's not April just yet, but Wolf Park decided to take advantage of the warmer weather this weekend and opened its doors for a sneak preview.
Hundreds of people showed up to see and learn about the wolves Saturday.
This year will the park's 41st year of existence.
While it does not officially open until April, staff members say this weekend's event was a way to reach out to the community show them what the park has to offer.
“I thought that we might get a great turnout today provided that it didn't rain or at least not rain too steadily,” Head Animal Curator Patricia Goodmann said. “It's great to think that I am influencing the next generation. I hope that we can bring them to an appreciation of wolves and wilderness so that they'll want to preserve both.”
While these wolves aren't domesticated, workers say the wolves have been raised since they were pups to treat humans as if they are wolves as well.
