WLFI-TV sponsoring blood drive Friday

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - WLFI TV-18 and Indiana Blood Center are teaming up to host a community blood drive Friday to help boost blood supply to meet the needs of hospitals all around the state. Hosted by NewsChannel 18, the drive will give participants the opportunity to save up to three lives with just one donation.

Indiana Blood Center must see about 600 donors each and every day to meet the patient needs at more than 60 hospitals throughout the state, including two in Tippecanoe County – Indiana University Health Arnett and Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health.  
 
Indiana Blood Center works with local hospitals ensure stable blood supplies for its patients in need of any number of treatments, such as fighting cancer, having surgery or requiring a medical emergency.  Through its volunteer blood donors last year, Indiana Blood Center provided Lafayette hospitals with nearly 8,500 blood components.
