LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette High School gets the all-clear after being put on lock down while police search the neighborhood for a burglary suspect.
Sgt. Tony Kenner says police reported to an attempted burglary call in the 2500 block of Robinwood Drive just after noon Thursday. Central Catholic Junior/Senior High School was on lockdown while the search was near the school's facility.
The police established a perimeter just west of Central Catholic Jr/Sr High School that stretched from Teal Road to Beck Lane.
The lockdown lasted around 45 minutes.
They got the all-clear after the search went away from school property. Kenner says the burglary suspect tried to kick in the door of a home but fled when they realized the tenants were home.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s with a backpack. K-9 officers were used during the search. The search lasted around 2 hours.
