Winter storm hits Clinton County hard

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - UPDATE: As of 12:00 noon today, Clinton County's weather alert status is reduced to Level 3. Travel is not restricted at this time, but it is requested that unnecessary travel be limited while crews work to clear the roads.

Clinton County was hit pretty hard by Wednesday's winter storm. But snow plow drivers were busy all day to make the roads a little more bearable.

Frankfort Parks and Street Superintendent George Belmore said Frankfort received nearly 8 inches of snow. He said with that much snow and the windy conditions, the drivers' biggest problem was drifting. He said they would work on a road then look back and it would already be covered.

Belmore said city and county officials issued a Level Two Weather Advisory. This means people are asked to travel only if they have to. That includes going to work, getting groceries or supplies, or going to doctor appointments.

Belmore said it's all about keeping the residents of Frankfort and Clinton County safe.

"People understood early on that they needed to stay off the streets, if at all possible. They really took our advice which is what made today a really successful day," Belmore said.
