MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - The wait continues for the official cause of death after a 13-year-old boy dies at Lake Freeman.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, in late July Zach Crays and some friends were swimming on Lake Freeman when they felt a tingling sensation.
The Lafayette teen was later found unconscious and pronounced dead at White County Memorial Hospital.
White County Coroner Mike Ott says electrocution and drowning are the preliminary causes, but he has to wait on the toxicology report to confirm what he thinks.
"Until that comes in it is still a preliminary finding,” said Ott. “Once the toxicology reports are in, in a few more weeks, then we can make the final cause of death."
According to the sheriff's department, the Carroll County REMC found a water soaked electrical junction box.
They believe it may have struck the metal on the dock and electrocuted the boy.
