WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Businesses in White County are now accessible from popular highway.

On July 3, 2012, access to Phoenix Lawn and Garden and Rangeline Enterprises from U.S. 24 was closed off due to construction.

The manager of Phoenix Lawn and Garden said summertime is the company's busiest season. However, in the nine days the business was closed off from U.S. 24, only two customers came in. And even they had a difficult time getting there.

"We did have some customers, unfortunately, that parked across the road and risked their life, jumped the wall. It wasn't good but they got here," said Tom Burghardt.

INDOT is widening the intersection of 300 East and U.S. 24 and installing a flashing light. INDOT representatives said the project should be complete by September.
