Wheat harvest shows old techniques

Ind. (WLFI) -  Farm owner Marion Klutzke hosted the 9th annual wheat harvest, where he demonstrated how wheat was cut way back when.

He said he's been doing this all his life, with a little help from his son Randy.

The men use machinery from the 1930s, 40s and 50s, and have classic Allis-Chalmers tractors on display.

"Back in the day it was a lot of work and it was one of things I wanted to get away from because it was just so labor intensive but now it's fun. I come back for it and I think 'People need to know where the food providers provide the food from.' A lot of people go to the supermarket and think it comes out of the truck in the back and it grows in the truck and you've got to realize there's a lot of labor and this is what we all had to do back in the day," Randy Klutzke said.

Randy Klutzke said the farm is a Hoosier Homestead Award Winner. That means the farm has been owned by his family for more than 100 years.
