West Lafayette to see budget cuts after sequester

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette has received word of federal budget cuts after the sequester.
Mayor John Dennis (R) received an email from HUD saying funds from the city's Community Development Block Grant will be cut.
The numbers are not official, but Dennis says it could range from 5 percent to 9 percent.
West Lafayette Housing Program Coordinator Dale Dixon says the city uses about 15 percent of grant to fund local non-profit groups.
"West Lafayette has been very good about giving the full 15 percent we do get to the public service agencies. It would be an across-the-board cut depending on whatever we get. But we will still max out what we can give them," said Dixon.
Dixon says the other 85 percent of the grant is used for housing initiatives and infrastructure plans.
