West Lafayette police officer graduates from the FBI National Academy

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette Patrol Captain Gary Sparger finished a 10 week course to make him one of four West Lafayette police officers to ever graduate from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Sparger was honored at the West Lafayette Board of Works Meeting on Tuesday.

Sparger said the academy focused on public speaking, physical fitness, and interrogation.

He is looking forward to bringing back some of what he learned in Virginia to West Lafayette.

"The interrogation methods are not only effective, but they're humane," Sparger said. "There is no contact with suspects, no yelling, or those types of things. I think that is something that can be shared with patrol officers, and make them better at their job."

254 people graduated with Sparger.
