WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Firefighters moved into a new firehouse Monday after a month-long wait.
West Lafayette Firehouse 3 was officially opened in December of 2012.
However, Fire Chief Tim Heath says due to last-minute changes with the building, the move-in day for the firefighters was delayed.
Firefighters moved in Sunday and spent Monday preparing the station for everyday use.
Firefighters say this new station will help them respond to calls quickly.
“(We’ll have) quicker response times and be able to serve the community better as far as getting there and getting our job done,” firefighter Brian Harshbarger said.
“We don't have to go through so much to get out to the main road, and be in route,” firefighter and EMT Grant Birge said. “So, I think they'll be a lot quicker.”
Harshbarger says local residents have been stopping by Firehouse 3 recently to welcome them to the area.
