WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A controversial development in West Lafayette has been withdrawn.

A three-story, 14-apartment development called "Meridian Crossing" was scheduled for a vote by the West Lafayette City Council next month.

But developer Gary Schroeder sent Mayor John Dennis a note saying he's withdrawing the project.

Schroeder did not say why he was pulling out of the project.

Earlier this month, "Meridian Crossing" received a recommendation from the Area Plan Commission by a vote of 10- to- 2.
