WOLCOTT, Ind. (WLFI) - Tri-County High School presented a check Friday to one of their students fighting for his life.

Wes Corbin is a freshman at Tri-County who was diagnosed with leukemia this year.

The school decided to re-name their spirit week to "Wes Week" to help raise money for the Corbin family.

Altogether, the school raised more than $17,000 to help with Wes's medical bills.

"It means a lot that I have such a caring group of friends here at Tri-County and teachers," Wes said.

"It will help with our medical bills and the travel expenses, but it's not the money that counts, it's the love you get from it."

Wes hopes to be back in class at Tri-County sometime next semester.
