LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The snowy, winter weather has given way to warmer temperatures and sunnier skies, now more people are taking their cars to the body shop.

Car repair experts say it is the same routine every year. As the weather gets better, people start washing off all the grime that comes with winter weather.

"You kind of get the same routine every year,” said Mike Raisor Collision Center Manager Jayson Lohmeyer. “Right now we are in the routine where people actually get out there, they start washing all the road grime, the salt, all the stuff that winter has brought. They start washing that off the vehicle, they are also out there washing their car and they are taking their time."

Lohmeyer said that's when drivers see repairs they did not know were there.

"You are starting to look at your vehicle and you are seeing a lot more damage to them what was there originally,” added Lohmeyer. “We do get more of an increase in that, not necessarily in wrecks or fender benders, but a lot of small unseen damage during the winter."

Lohmeyer said after this spike in business, things quiet down for the summer.
