LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - People of all ages were out and about on Saturday at the American Heart Association's Annual Heart Walk at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette.
Along with the walk, different hospitals were on hand to provide screenings and information about keeping your heart healthy.
There were also plenty of activities for the kids, including hula-hoops and a bounce house.
Organizers said it's important to teach kids how to be active at an early age.
"We want to make sure people know how to be healthy, how to be heart healthy, and how to reduce the risks of having a heart issue," said Heart Walk Chairman Joel Robbins. "Watching your sodium intake, watching your fat intake, get out and get active.
"It's important people know their numbers," said heart attack survivor Brian Hudson. "Go to the doctor and get those numbers, and understand what they are. If you have any chest pain at all, don't hesitate to go to the doctor so they can check you out."
Organizers said Saturday's event is the association's biggest fundraiser, and they expected to raise about $100,000.
