LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - More than two days after a fire in a Lafayette home killed two people, the victims have been identified.
Thirty-year-old Amy Ingram and 75-year-old John Reeves died on March 7 in a blaze that erupted at 1810 Morton Street in Lafayette in the early morning hours.
There was substantial damage to the property and witnesses described the fire as "intense." According to neighbors, several people were inside the house at the time of the fire but some were able to escape.
Both victims were residents of the house.
Ingram, formerly a Vermont resident, worked at Purdue University. An account has been set up at PEFCU for donations to assist her family.
Reeves was a Lafayette resident.
Both deaths were due to hypoxia due to soot inhalation and were ruled accidental.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
