Vegetable oil spill closes several roads in Carroll County

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Carroll County residents were forced to drive through a big mess on Saturday, after vegetable oil spilled out of a truck, covering about 26 miles of roadway.

Carroll County Emergency Management spokesperson Cory Colanower said the spill occurred sometime between 10:00 Friday evening and 2:00 Saturday morning.

The spill occurred near 725 North and 1125 West in Carroll County.

Colanower said they are still not sure what company is responsible for the spill, but said they will continue to search for the person responsible.

Colanower said they believe the truck also made a stop in Tippecanoe County. He said crews will continue to clean the roadways with bio-degradable detergent and water.

However, he said the mess will not be totally cleaned up until sometime Sunday morning.
