INDIANA (WLFI) - The May jobs numbers are in, and not a single county in the INDNewsChannel 18 viewing area saw a decrease in unemployment last month.
Most counties saw increases in jobless rates, but two counties, Newton and White, had rates that stayed the same.
The two counties with the biggest increase in unemployment were Benton, where unemployment rose to 8.3%, and Tippecanoe County which also saw a 0.6% increase to 7% unemployment.
Newton County had the highest unemployment locally, at 9.2%.
May Unemployment Rates –
Benton: 8.3% (up .6% from April)
Carroll: 6.5% (up .4%)
Cass: 8% (up .1%)
Clinton: 7.9% (up .2%)
Fountain: 7.8% (up .1%)
Jasper: 8.1% (up .2%)
Montgomery: 8% (up .3%)
Newton: 9.2% (no increase or decrease)
Tippecanoe: 7% (up .6%)
Warren: 5.9% (up .4%)
White: 7.5% (no increase or decrease)
