LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC) released a statement providing an update on the events surrounding the November 18 science lab accident at Wainwright Middle School.

TSC states that both burned students are now recovering well. One, 15-year-old Leighton Fruits, was treated and released at a local hospital on the day of the accident. The other student injured, 14-year-old Cody Garrett, was in critical condition in an Indianapolis hospital for some time, but has now been released from the hospital and is at home.

The school corporation stated that while the investigation by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff has been completed and no criminal charges have been filed, TSC's own investigation continues.

TSC is evaulating the risks and benefits of the science lab. No demonstrations of this type are being conducted while the investigation continues.
