LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - It was a big night for the boys and girls of the Tippy Stars baseball and softball team.

Thursday night, the team was invited to play at Loeb Stadium before the championship game of the Colt World Series.

The team is made up boys and girls of all ages with special needs.

Parents said seeing the smiles on their kids' faces while playing in Thursday night's game was priceless.

"A lot of us have to debate whether we're going to put our kids on teams with typical individuals or if that's going to be too much of a challenge for both the child and the team," parent, Caroline Johnson said. "The playing field is literally leveled and the success is equal for everybody."

"It's wonderful for him to get an opportunity to be a child that gets to play baseball and run and be excited. It's just a great opportunity and we're very happy for him," Brent Johnson said.

At the end of the game, everyone was a winner.

This was the second year the team played together.
