LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - An area school district is continuing to grow as it tries to make cuts to its budget.

Tippecanoe School Corporation superintendent Scott Hanback said the district is growing, but not like it did ten years ago. Then it grew by 200 or more students each year.

Last school year, the TSC gained about 20 students. Hanback believes this school year the district will increase 40 to 60 students.

"Any time you are a declining school district, it presents its challenges," he explained. "That is what we have experienced over the last decade of so in having adequate space to accommodate those students and provide their education. While it still does have it challenges, it does continue to be a positive to be a growing school district."

The official count day for school corporations state wide is Friday, September 17. This helps determine the funding formula for each corporation.
