TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Due to extremely dry conditions and little chance of significant precipitation, Tippecanoe County has been placed under an open burn ban.
Tippecanoe County is now considered an emergency fire hazard area. No open burning consists of, but is not limited to, the following: no open burning of trash and debris, no campfires, no open cooking fires, and no recreational-type fires.
This ban does not include cooking in enclosed outdoor grills.
Even with the precipitation that has fallen in portions of the county, Tippecanoe County is still five inches below normal and the precipitation was not a great enough amount to reduce the fire hazard.
This open burn ban is in place until further notice.
