TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's office needs your help.
The office is looking for volunteers to be a part of their Volunteers in Police Service Program.
The program started in 2007 after being outlined in 2002.
Volunteers help the office with anything such as filing and paperwork, to directing traffic during accidents.
“It is a volunteer program for people in the community that do a wide variety of work,” Training Coordinator Andy Cree said. “That work has offset tax payer burden by over a hundred-thousand-dollars of salaries that we would have had to pay out for new employees. So, it's been beneficial to us and to the community.”
Head to the volunteer website for information on how to apply.
