TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A local judge has been named a finalist for an upcoming vacancy on the Indiana Supreme Court.

Tippecanoe County Juvenile Court Judge Loretta Rush is one of three finalists for the position.  Judge Steven Nation of Hamilton County and Geoffrey Slaughter of Indianapolis are also finalists.

Wednesday, the Judicial Nominating Commission interviewed ten semi-finalists and narrowed the list down to the final three.  That list will be sent to Governor Mitch Daniels who will make the final selection within 60 days.

Earlier this year, Justice Frank Sullivan announced he would step down from the bench this summer.

If appointed, Judge Rush would serve as the state’s 108 th justice.
