TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County swore in several volunteers Monday to help kids in the court system.
Tippecanoe County Superior Court 3 Judge Faith Graham swore in six new CASAs, or court appointed special advocates, for the children of the county.
The volunteers spent the last six weeks in training, including 35 hours of classroom work and homework outside of classes.
"At times, sometimes the CASA is the one constant thing in their lives and the importance of that consistency is immeasurable in many of these families,” Judge Graham said. “So, it's extremely important for people to continue to volunteer."
Last year at this time, there were 50 children without CASAs. Now Judge Graham says there are only a handful of kids without one.
